Does your work life or location make it difficult for you to attend chapter meetings, but you still desire to be part of Alabama’s longest standing network of professionals, students, and educators in Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, and related fields? If so, our new flexible membership option is for you!
Flexible membership allows members to have all of the benefits of local chapter membership with flexibility to attend meetings at any chapter when their schedule allots. It provides an alternative option for professionals and students who have the desire to join but have not previously because of geographical or work constraints.
How does it work?
Flexible members will apply for membership at the State level and have the opportunity to access all of the benefits of local chapter members. Flexible members can attend meetings and events at any local chapter as their schedule allots and can attend local, state, and regional conferences at the member rate. PRCA will also host quarterly virtual programming for our flexible members. Flexible members will also have access to ALL benefits that local chapter members do, including:
Programming and support for the Accreditation in Public Relations (APR) designation for professionals and the Certificate in Principles of Public Relations for students
Member rates to PRCA and SPRF conference
Access to Statewide membership directory
Exclusive member-only communication
Awards/practitioner recognitions
Networking opportunities
Professional development opportunities
Educational programming
Leadership opportunities at the local, state, and regional level

Any professional, educator, or student in Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, or related fields who meets one or more of the following criteria can apply for flexible membership:

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the cost of flexible membership?
Due to the nontraditional nature of this membership type and the ability to attend any local chapter events, flexible membership is $130 for new members, $115 for renewing members, and $35 for students. Membership rates are prorated each quarter.
What is the renewal cycle for flexible membership?
Flexible membership is based on the calendar year and is good from January – December, similar to local chapter membership.
If I am currently a local chapter member, can I change to flexible membership at renewal time?
If you think flexible membership might be more suitable for you, please reach out to your local chapter membership chair before renewing so they can help you determine which membership option would be best for you based on your circumstances.
How much will programming cost?
Each local chapter sets their own rates for programming if you attend a local chapter event, but you will receive the member rate. The member rate for the quarterly virtual programming will be $20.
